Typically there are three types of floor construction

What is Underfloor Heating?

Underfloor heating is a method of heating indoor spaces by installing a heating system underneath the floor surface.  Radiators heat a room by warming the air around them through convection, but UFH uses both convection and radiant heat to warm the space.

By using two methods of heating, a consistent temperature is achieved throughout the room, removing cold spots that can be caused by radiators and other traditional forms of heating.

How does it work?

UFH essentially turns the whole floor of a room into a heat emitter.  This is achieved by running pipes underneath the floor of the room and pumping warm water through the pipes.  The pipes then heat up the screed and the floor covering and the heat then radiates into the room.

Mathewson underfloor heating solutions have experience in installing UFH in all types of properties either as a retrofit project or as part of a new build.  We can offer advice as to the best type of underfloor heating for the project, design the system and carry out the full installation including the screeding.
